Numbers Top — Warped Gingham
A drawstring top cut from prewashed linen in the Warped Gingham print. The pattern originates from a 2022 experiment made by physically moving gingham across a scanner bed, stretching and distorting the familiar check into an irregular field of lines. Recolored here in saturated blues, the print references the layered and shifting patterns of nerikomi clay.
The Numbers Top is built around an adjustable center drawstring that changes the proportion and shape of the garment. Worn released, it falls longer and looser through the body; pulled and tied, the front gathers into a ruched, cropped shape. The simple V-neck and easy sleeves leave the construction intentionally open to adjustment rather than fixing the top into a single silhouette.
The linen is prewashed for a softer hand and relaxed drape, while retaining enough structure to hold the gathering and dimensionality created by the drawstring.
